Our Story

Held to a standard

Most jewellery is judged from across the room. We build ours to be judged in the hand.

That is a different discipline entirely. Across the room, anything catches light. In the hand, a piece tells the truth — how it sits, how the clasp closes, whether the setting was finished or merely assembled.

Durre exists for the woman who picks a piece up before she decides.

What we look for

We choose every set piece by piece. Never by the carton.

Weight. The first thing quietly reduced, and the first thing a discerning hand notices. A piece should have presence when you lift it.

Finish. We look for evenness across the whole surface, including the parts that face inward. Uneven finishing is where wear begins, and it always begins where no one is looking.

Setting. Every stone is checked to hold. A stone that photographs beautifully and sits loosely is not a stone we will sell.

Closure. Clasps and fastenings are worked by hand before shipping. It is the least glamorous part of a piece and the part most likely to fail.

Nothing reaches our shelves that we would not put on someone we know. That is not a marketing line. It is the actual test we apply.

Why complete sets

Because a look should arrive whole.

We have watched too many women find the necklace they wanted, and then spend weeks searching for earrings that do not argue with it. A piece worn alone, feeling incomplete, tends not to be worn again.

Necklace, earrings, ring, bracelet — considered together, finished together, arriving together. So the decision is made once, and made well.

What Durre means

Durre means pearl.

Not the largest stone in the room. Not the loudest. Something formed slowly, without announcement, and quietly worth having.

That is what we are trying to make. And that is who we make it for — the woman who has never needed to explain herself, and has simply stopped accepting less than she chose.
